Life Story
I have lived in Tennessee three times, Georgia once, Alabama once, and Mississippi three times. In the mid and late 70’s I worked at the Free Will Baptist Bible College as the Girls Dorm Supervisor, Assistant Dean of Women, Sect. to the Dean of Students, and Seamstress for the Drama Dept. Not all at the same time.
In 1999 I retired. I was working at Life Way Christian Resources at the time. I moved to New Orleans to live with relatives. When I arrived there, they told me they did not like New Orleans and not unpack all of my things, we would be moving. I was retired, so I did not care where I lived. We wanted to move far enough north to get away for the hurricanes, but not to far that we would have snow. Six months later we moved to Hattiesburg. What can I say? I would not live anywhere else. The only thing that makes me even thinking about going back to Tennessee are my 6 grandsons and 1 great- granddaughter.
In 1997, I told the Lord, if he would let me retire, I would volunteer at a hospital or church. In 2000 I started volunteering here at FBC. When I realized I need to supplement my income, the church hired me part-time. I work 30 hrs a week and volunteer the rest of the time. My positions at the church has been receptionist, help in financial office, and now assistant to Charles Welch (Minister of Sr. Adults).
Before retiring, I attended Two Rivers Baptist Church in Nashville, where I sang in the choir, taught pre-school, worked with the single again adults, part of the prayer room ministry and a visitation team leader.
Here at FBC, it has been my pleasure to help with the pre-school, youth, and college ministries. I am now working with P.T.C.’s (S r. Adults) My love for missions has allowed me to make 3 trips to Honduras, 2 trips to the coast, and a trip to Child Evangelism Fellowship in Missouri. As long and the Lord allows, I will continue to help where ever needed.
If you need help, just call A+ or W.T. that’s me. If you are wondering what W.T. stands for, you will have to ask.
Vision
Reaching out to all people no matter the age and showing them the one and only way to Haven. We have the ways and means and I feel God expects all of us to share His love. I see FBC doing this now and in the future. We must all search our hearts and find His way for each one of us to do what He has commanded.
