Verse
“Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers. But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers.”
-Psalms 1:1-3

Life Story
I grew up in Southaven, MS. Occasionally (not even every Christmas and Easter) attended church. My impression of church was that it was a place to fear therefore people unwillingly come and it has no influence on our daily lives. A few months before I turned thirteen, my family began attending a small Baptist church. It was here that I first experienced God, who I learned loved me and died for me. Wow! I had never realized anyone cared for me and not only did God (Jesus Christ) love me, but he died in my place – Amazing Love. I did not understand fully, but knew I wanted/needed that love. At the age of thirteen I place Jesus Christ as Lord over my life and was obediently baptized. This created an almost unquenchable thirst within me. I was thirsty for the things of God. I began volunteering in the youth group – doing the things that no one really wanted to do like sitting up chairs, making copies, phone calling, etc. I was following Jesus the best way I knew how which was reading my Bible and mimicking my youth minister – David Pope.
It was during my last year of high school that I began to struggle with being called to serve God and His people. My struggled boiled down to “I love serving you (God) in your house; however, everyone I know that is called by you resist your call. No, runs from your call!” Because I am willing I must not really be called. And for the next four years I struggled with what I was supposed to do with this desire to serve God.
As my faith continued to grow, I began to realize that my willingness to serve was something God had placed deep within my heart. At the age of twenty-one, I accepted God’s call to full-time Christian ministry. Several of my friends (one of which was my college roommate) who felt God’s calling on their lives were going to seminary for additional training; therefore, I thought I should go.
While at seminary my college roommate introduced me to Sabra. I knew she was special from the moment I first saw her. After an odd courtship (you will have to inquire about in person) including round #1 and round #2, I asked Sabra to marry me and she agreed. We now have four children: Moriah (2004), Mallory (2005), Mollee (2006) and Trevor (2007). “My goodness!” is often the first response following by some rendition of “Will there be more?” Well, you will just have to wait and see! Maybe.
