Life Story
As an army brat we moved quite a lot. I have a brother that was born in Japan. So with so many brothers and sisters we were our best friends. My Dad has always felt a calling to become a minister and we were raised in a christian home. He was able to meet his calling late in life, which is where I bring my story.
I have been married twice, neither one were Christians. Somehow I was led here to Hattiesburg, where I was able to raise my son in one place. That was my main goal in life. One I will always be proud of. I was in retail for 35 years, and then God blessed me by allowing me to follow my life dream of law enforcement. I was blessed to do it for the last ten years. During that time a part time job came open here at First Hattiesburg as Security. I needed the extra job desperately. But then something wonderful happened. I met some Senior Citizens that say I am a blessing to them. What they don’t know is that over the years they opened my heart so that I could feel their love for me, and that led to me rededicating my life to Christ. It was then that God opened a garage door and kicked me through it–this job as receptionist opened up and I was led to take it. I have been so blessed to be a part of this church and this family.
Sensing a Call
I was on night duty at the Sheriffs office and was watching one of Dr. Jeff’s sermon. He mentioned that Beth the receptionist was leaving. A thought ran through my mind, “Wouldn’t it be something if I could take that job!” Less than a week later I got a call asking if I would be interested in it. I couldn’t believe it. I knew then that God had my life in his hands all along and this is where he was leading me.
Vision
My vision for First Hattiesburg it to help the church grow as we make our wonderful move to the new location. I would love to see as many senior citizens as young people. They are very important to the church. If it wasn’t for them, us young ones wouldn’t be here (that’s a joke, I’m a senior citizen also).
