Life story
I was born and raised in Hattiesburg, MS where i have grown up going to church all my life. My parents and grandparents are believers and knew that if the doors were open I would be there. At the age of 11 i sensed a feeling that there was something missing from my life and I knew that I needed a Savior. I accepted Christ at age 11, but for me it wasn’t a radical change. It was almost like, “hey, I’ve got Jesus but I’m still going to do what I want to do.”
My Senior year in high school i signed up to go to Mission Arlington in Arlington, TX to be a Summer Missionary. This was a bold move for me especially since I wasn’t the most “Christian” kid at my school. Still I felt the Lord was calling me to go there. My time at Mission Arlington was such a sweet time, one that I will never forget. God put people in my life that encouraged me and challenged me to rely fully on God. I was challenged to pray about everything! That summer changed my life and I returned to Hattiesburg with a new plan in my life…God’s plan.
Sensing a call
After returning to from Arlington, I started volunteering at FirstHattiesburg on Wednesday nights for youth services. I found that just serving on Wednesdays was not enough for me. I wanted to grow and be around people that would help me grow so i started to help around the student ministry two or three days a week. After class I would rush to the church to work on a project or help make phone calls. I knew i had a passion for students and I prayed God would one day have a job for me that involved serving students. Little did I know after a year and a half of volunteering I was offered an intern position!
