Life Story
I was born in Jackson, MS and moved to McComb, MS when I was in the 2nd grade. I am the oldest of 3 children – I have a younger sister and a younger brother. I grew up in church – if the doors were open for any reason, we were probably there. I became a Christian at the age of 15 at a youth camp. I think God has used that to give me a heart for Student Ministry.
I went to Southwest Mississippi Community College and then to Mississippi College to get a degree in secondary education. I came to Hattiesburg in the fall of 2000 to get a Master’s Degree in Education at William Carey.
Sensing a Call
I have always loved student ministry. I worked as an intern in the Youth Ministry at FBC McComb and I took a course in Youth Ministry while at Mississippi College and began to feel like God wanted me to work in Youth/Student Ministry in some way.
I began working at FBC in the fall of 2000 when I first moved to Hattiesburg. I worked as an intern first in Children’s Ministry and then in Youth Ministry. I graduated from Carey in 2002 and knew I had to get a full-time job. I had been praying about it for sometime that God would open up doors for me if he wanted me to continue working in Student Ministry. Not long after I graduated from Carey, the opportunity to become the Youth Ministry Associate here at FBC opened up and I jumped at it. I absolutely love what I do and can’t imagine a better job in the world!
Vision
I think our vision as a Student Ministry is simple – leading students to know, love, and follow Jesus.
